The Cabriolet offered a Fiat type open roof that moved the car company into a realm outside of utilitarian. Weight was added to the body by using more steel and cornering became a problem. The company was forced to liqidate and changed hands again.
The last classic for sale produced by Champion was simply a re branding of the Cabriolet. It was a heavier and longer version of the previous classic for sale. The company produced over 7,000 of these models but the market had been taken over by larger manufactures. The larger manufacturers could produce more luxurious models for less money than Champion was able to offer its Classics for sale. In 1958 the company called it quits after trying to stay afloat by producing motorcycles as another classic for sale. The Champion Automobilverke GmBH was a pioneer in the compact car industry. The Champion Classic for sale today is a glimpse of the predecessor of all the small eco cars of today.
