The Great Depression summoned the end to a stylized automobile called the Cord. Its excessive price tag of $700 dollars was just too much, even for the lucky few that remained wealthy after the markets crashed. Cord Corporation tried to continue making cars. With bankruptcy looming on the horizon they found themselves turning out a less than perfect product. The final blow came when Cord lost the trust of their customers by changing badges on existing 810 models to 812 to imply they were the newer models.. Bancruptcy finally closed the doors in 1957.
