The Ford Motor Compnay was founded in 1903. The first Ford classics for sale produced were the Model A. The Model T was one of the best-selling cars of all time. Ford did not actually invent the moving assembly line as most people believe, however, he did put it to good use to produce the Model T starting in 1913. The Model T was also produced in several different countries. In 1914 Ford offered workers $5 per day. Simple and reliable, the Model T was nicknamed Tin Lizzie. It was started with a crank. The top speed was about 65 miles per hour. Production of the Model T ended in 1927, with a total of 15 million built. When new, the Model T cost $850. The replacement for the Model A classics for sale, was “the little deuce coupe,” introduced in 1932, and memorialized in a Beach Boys song. It was the first mass-produced V8, and had 65 horsepower. It was featured in the film American Graffiti.
The Mustang was another car Ford was famous for. There had been other sporty sedans, but the Mustang, introduced in 1965, was a novelty with its long hood and short rear deck. Mustang classics for sale were known as pony cars. The Mustang was popular with the youth market and reasonably affordable, at less than $3,000. At first it came as a notchback or convertible. Few changes were made through 1966. In the movie Bullitt, Steve McQueen drove a Mustang 390 GT that was made infamous in a chase scene. Ford Crown Victorias are ubiquitous as taxicabs and cop cars.
Ford is also well-known for its Ranger and F150 pickup trucks.
