Kaiser for sale

Henry Kaiser, a shipbuilder, and Joseph Frazer, and executive at Packard, teamed up after World War II to form the Kaiser-Frazer Corporation and build the classic for sale that bore their names: the Frazer and the Kaiser. They were able to be successful by moving quickly and manufacturing their classics for sale before the big Detroit automakers could get their factories up and running for car production after the war.

The first car launched by the company was the Kaiser Special in 1947. It was a four-door sedan with a modern metal envelop body, long contours, and wraparound bumpers. For passengers there were low, luxurious seats, a large luggage compartment, twin visors and horns, dome lights and hydraulic brakes. It was also available as the Kaiser Custom, with additional features like leather upholstery, a special dashboard, new ashtrays and courtesy lights. Outside, the Custom had panel molding, more chrome, and was available in special colors. Options like a radio, special mirrors tires and tires were available. About 70,000 were sold in their first year. Kaiser classics for sale were known for being economical but comfortable family vehicles.

Few changes were made until 1949 when the Kaiser was completely revamped for a more modern look. The Traveler and Vagabond sedans were introduced. For the next few years these classics for sale would share the same basic shape but become less boxy. They called this “anatomic design,” made to fit the human body with more spacious interiors. The Henry J was a small economy car intended to boost sales. Still Kaiser sales were falling. At the end of 1951 they had an excess of inventory. Because of this only minor trim changes were made over the next two years.

Kaiser was facing the same troubles that all small automakers were having. Though Kaiser was one of the first to build automobiles after the war, but they were not large enough to compete with Ford and General Motors. Kaiser introduced the Darren-161 sports car in 1954, named after designer Howard Darrin, and built on a stretched Henry J frame. It could reach up to 100 miles per hour. The engine, however, did not perform as well as the cheaper Corvette put out by General Motors, and the cars did not sell well. Only about 435 of these classics for sale were made. Kaiser had purchased the company that built Jeep vehicles and decided to concentrate on that side of the business in the United States.

Today Kaiser classics for sale can be worth up to $50,000.
