MG for sale
MG classics for sale were designed by Cecil Kimber, a manager at the Morris Garages car dealer in Oxford, England. He convinced the William Morris, the owner, that there was a growing demand for sportier cars. The name MG comes from the initials of Morris Garages. The first MGs used Morris models with new bodies, and the brand existed as an specialized unit of the Morris operation. The company was established as a separate entity in 1928.The first car produced was the 14/28, and was a modified Morris Oxford with a new body, updated engine and more distinctive styling. Orders poured in for this unique car. The first real MG classic for sale was the MG 18/80. This was an entirely new car rather than a modified Morris. This was built on a newly designed chassis and featured the signature MG grille. Demand continued to grow. MG received even more attention at the London Auto Show in 1928.
The company was soon to launch a line of smaller cars. The MG T-Series Midget classics for sale were successful worldwide. Edsel Ford had one shipped to his home, and this may have been the first MG exported to America. They were based on the Morris Minor. The TC was one of the first sports cars that became popular in America after World War II. The MGA Twin Cam was a powerful car, but finicky, requiring 100-octane fuel and subject to numerous types of damage.
The MGB was a more comfortable sports car. It was described as “simple, tough, and fun.” The car was great for Sunday drives, but also a successful racer. The MGB/GT was available with a rare six-cylinder engine. Unfortunately, the cars were subject to rust. The 1974 MGB was the last model to feature chrome bumpers. After that it was made with thick rubber bumpers to comply with United States safety standards. The last original MGBs were produced in 1980.
MG classics for sale have always been used as racing cars and the C-Type and Q-Type were the dedicated racing models. The Competition Department was shut down in 1935 when MG formally merged with Morris. Despite this, the cars continued to set speed records.
MG was eventually absorbed into the British Motor Corporation, later to become British Leyland. The company had also acquired Austin and Jaguar. MG classics for sale are now worth up to $40,000, I in good condition without rust.
