Mitsubishi for sale
Mitsubishi classics for sale began in 1917, when the Model A was introduced by the Mitsubishi Shipbuilding Company. The car was based on the Fiat Tipo 3 and sat seven. It was entirely built by hand and therefore much more pricey than the cars being mass-produced in America and Europe. Just a handful were built before being discontinued in 1921.In the 1930s, the company experimented with a four-wheel drive sedan for military use, though it concentrated on aircraft and machinery during World War II. The conglomerate was forced to split up by the Allies after the war. Once the Japanese economy got going in the 1960s, demand for personal vehicles was great, and the company was ready to introduce the Mitsubishi 500, a mass market sedan.
The Colt line of family cars was introduced in 1963. Soon the company was producing over 75,000 automobiles per year. The Galant classic for sale was successfully introduced in 1969, and the company decided to form a separate division to focus on automobiles. The Mitsubishi Motors Corporation was started in 1970.
One of the company’s early strategies was to partner up with foreign companies. In 1971 Mitsubishi formed an alliance with Chrysler in the United States. The Mitsubishi Galant was sold in the United States as the Dodge Colt, and later as the Dodge Challenger and Plymouth Sapporo classics for sale. Production tripled, and had reached one million units per year by 1980. However, this expansion was not without tension between Mitsubishi and Chrysler.
In 1982, the Mitsubishi brand was marketed directly to the United States for the first time with the Tredia, Cordia, and Starion models. The Galant is still one of the best known Mitsubishi cars.
In the 1990s, Mitsubishi developed a variety of four-wheel drive vehicles to cash in on the sport utility vehicle craze. Though not expected to catch on in Japan, Mitsubishi was surprised at their success with these vehicles at home. The Pajero classic for sale was their most successful sport utility vehicle. They also produced the Outlander and Endeavor.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse was offered as an entry-level sports car. Its Chrysler counterparts were the Plymouth Laser and the Eagle Talon. In 1996 it was offered as the Spyder, a convertible version. Mitsubishi has been racing for years, and the Lancer is a street-version of some of their racing cars.
Jackie Chan has featured Mitsubishi vehicles in his movies, and holds an annual celebrity auto race with the cars. Mitsubishi classics for sale are available in many markets.
