Nissan classics for sale were first marketed under the Datsun name. Nissan Motors was founded in 1933 and built machines and vehicles for the Japanese military. Their Datsun Type 15 models were the first mass-produced Japanese cars and pickup trucks to come out, in 1937. The first Datsun sedans and compact pickup trucks were sold in the United States in the 1950s.By the 1960s, Nissan had a strong reputation in the United States and Japan. Their signature vehicle was the Datsun 2000 roadster. The first datsun sports car was the SPL 210. It was a four-seater with a fold-down soft top.The Bluebird classics for sale were engineered for American driving needs with a three-speed transmission. It also suited American style with two-tone paint, whitewalls and bucket seats. The Datsun 510 sedan was also designed with Americans in mind. The Patrol was Nissan’s first sport utility vehicle with four-wheel drive and a powerful 145-horsepower V6 engine. Roy Rogers was the spokesperson and the vehicle was marketed as able to “climb trees.”
The Datsun 2000 roadster classics for sale came with a five-speed transmission, unusual for a Japanese production sports car. Only 1,000 of these classics for sale were produced. Lightweight racing versions won ten SCCA National Championships in their time. The Datsun Z was a performance vehicle, marketed in Japan as the Nissan Fairlady Z and in the United States as the 240Z. With roll-up windows and a heater, it could still be had for a reasonable price. In fact, the 240Z became the best-selling sports car in the world, selling half a million vehicles in under ten years. This is a feat that took Corvette 25 years to achieve. After this successful sports car was launched, the Nissan brand realy began to take off.
Marketing under the Nissan name began in 1983. A factory was built in Tennessee to respond to demand for these classics for sale. The first Sentra, one of Nissan’s most popular classics for sale, was launched in 1985. That same year, actor Paul Newman raced a Newman/Sharp Trans Am 300ZX to Nissan’s 50th SCCA victory.
By 1989 Nissan had established their Infiniti line of luxury vehicles. The Nissan Altima and Maxima models continue to be popular sedans. The XTerra, Pathfinder, and Murano have been successful sport utility vehicles. Nissan was a leader in green technology with their electric Leaf model.
